"Kazimir Malevich was the first great artist to make art look like something your kid could do—if your kid had thought of doing it in war-isolated Moscow, in 1915, and was a genius."

Silicone Islands
Orange MilkA sleek, digital sheen has fallen out of vogue with many synthesizer stalwarts, but Ohio-based Cody Kirkendall smartly outwits many of his peers by embracing its clean sheets of sound and maximizing their atmospheres on his Chasms project. "Silicone Islands" is a concise set of soundscapes with each 12 minute track holding a few different individual movements, but for the most part the entirety of "Silicone Islands" has the same bright and exuberant feel. My favorite moment occurs in "Silicone Islands IV" as Chasms channels swoops of textured sound before bouncing through some melodies that are positively prismatic. The whole of the album unabashedly captures wide, shimmering vistas of sound, like Bee Mask programmed to pure pastoral beauty. – Ryan Potts, Experimedia
